Σε αυτό το ταξίδι, σκέφτηκα πως θα είχε ενδιαφέρον να κάνουμε μια σταση και να δούμε στα γρήγορα κάποια από τα πιο innovative & ενδιαφέροντα σχολεία που υπάρχουν σήμερα στον πλανήτη γη.
Προσοχή: στόχος δεν είναι να αντιγράψουμε κάποιο από τα σχολεία για τα οποία θα διαβάσετε παρακάτω!
Αλλά να δούμε πως προσδιορίζεται σήμερα η πρωτοπορία στην εκπαίδευση, μέσα από κάποια πολύ χαρακτηριστικά, διαφορετικά μεταξύ τους & μάλλον extreme παραδείγματα.
Κάθε μοντέλο περιλαμβάνει καταπληκτικές ιδέες & καινοτομίες που μπορούμε να προσαρμόσουμε στα δικά μας δεδομένα και να εντάξουμε στο δικό μας εκπαιδευτικό blend, με τρόπο μοναδικό & δημιουργικό.

Summerhill School: παρόλο που ιδρύθηκε το μακρινό 1921 από τον A.S. Neil, το Summerhill εξακολουθεί να είναι ίσως το πιο δημοκρατικό σχολείο του πλανήτη. Δυο φορές την εβδομάδα, ολόκληρη η σχολική κοινότητα συνεδριάζει (παιδιά + ενήλικες) και αποφασίζει με απλή πλειοψηφία για όλα τα ζητήματα, με βάση το αξίωμα “κάθε άτομο έχει μία ψήφο, ίδιας βαρύτητας”.
Το δυνατό του σημείο: τα παιδιά αποκτούν αυτοπεποίθηση, νιώθουν ευθύνη για τον ευατό & τους συμμαθητές τους, μαθαίνουν να ακούν την αντίθετη απόψη και να λαμβάνουν αποφάσεις συνθέτοντας & όχι αφορίζοντας. Ακόμη, εφόσον η παρακολούθηση των μαθημάτων δεν είναι υποχρεωτική, κάθε παιδί ενθαρρύνεται να ανακαλύψει τον δικό του μοναδικό τρόπο για το πως να μαθαίνει!
Inspired Edge Academy, που θα ξεκινήσει στο Λονδίνο το 2027. Nαι, ο εκπαιδευτικός όμιλος της Inspired που έχει αγοράσει Μωραίτη & CGS και διαθέτει σήμερα 95 σχολεία σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο, ξεκινά έναν “καινούριο” προοδευτικό τύπο σχολείου (“a school where learning and life grow together”) που μοιάζει να έχει ξεπηδήσει μέσα από τις παιδαγωγικές αρχές του δικού μας Life-derived Learning!

Founders School, μακράν ότι πιο aggressive θα βρείτε σε σχολείο ανά τον κόσμο.
Με 150 χιλιαδες δολλάρια ετήσια δίδακτρα και 4 χρόνια φοίτησης, το σχολείο δεσμεύεται να επιστρέψει όλα τα πληρωθεντα δίδακτρα αν το παιδί αποφοιτήσει χωρίς να έχει φτιάξει (το ίδιο) μια επιχείρηση που θα του αποφέρει 1 εκ. δολλάρια ετήσια κέρδη!
Τι μαθαίνουμε από αυτό το (εκ πρώτης όψεως παρανοϊκό & αντιπαιδαγωγικό) μοντέλο; μα, την αξία του think big in education (“Impossible is Nothing”)!
Finnish Education - The Jopo Program: έχω ξαναγράψει πόσο σπουδαία βρίσκω την φιλοσοφία του Jopo, που χρησιμοποιούν στην Φινλανδία για να εμπλέκουν στην μαθησιακή διαδικασία τα παιδιά που δεν τα πάνε καλά με το academic κομμάτι του σχολείου.
Στην Φινλανδία δίνουν παραδοσιακά μεγάλη σημασία στην μεταφορά της μαθησιακής διαδικασίας έξω από την σχολικη τάξη - στο ύπαιθρο, σε ένα μουσείο ή σε μια πλατεία. Μέσα από το Jopo, τα παιδιά του γυμνασίου έχουν την δυνατότητα, αντί να κάνουν μάθημα να δουλεύουν στα μαγαζιά της γειτονιάς ή να συμμετέχουν εθελοντικά σε κάποια ΜΚΟ - και να προσμετρά αυτό στην ακαδημαικη τους επίδοση!
Με αυτόν τον τρόπο τα παιδιά αποκτούν on the job training & αναπτύσσουν τα skills που χρειάζονται για την ζωή τους εκτός σχολικής τάξης, σε συνθήκες αληθινής ζωής.
